Which celebrity would you love to meet, and what would you talk about?
An interesting question. Although I couldn’t help wondering why the invitation must come from me.
What if the celebrity wanted to meet me?
After all, fame doesn’t necessarily make someone more interesting. It simply makes them more recognizable. Fame may open doors, but it doesn’t guarantee an interesting conversation.
I imagine our conversation would begin rather differently.
Perhaps we’d discuss the luxury, the extraordinary pleasure, of walking into a grocery store without an audience.
We might linger in the produce aisle, far from the glare of studio lights and the flash of smartphones.
I would describe the quiet wealth of an ordinary afternoon: the freedom to wander past the cereal boxes unnoticed, to choose a loaf of bread without anyone analyzing the decision, and to exist simply as another face in the crowd.
They would not be there to perform, and I would not be there to applaud.
