I have a wandering eye.

A little rust, faded neon, an unusual name, and suddenly, whatever I was thinking about five minutes ago is no longer important.

Some call them roadside attractions. I call them irresistible distractions.

There is something wonderfully peculiar about an old motel sign. Some are flashy, others have lost their sparkle, and a few appear to have checked out decades ago.

Yet there they stand, still trying to catch someone’s eye.

Apparently, they caught mine.

And here are a few that made me look twice.

Lazy S Motel

A little past its prime, but apparently, so is everything worth a second look.

Siesta Motel

Whoever said to stop and smell the roses clearly never met a cactus in bloom.

Stardust Motel

Once upon a time, it sparkled. Now it simply has character. Some stars never really fade.

Four Winds Motel

Gone with the wind? Not quite. Still standing, still fabulous, and apparently not ready to check out.

The Virginian Lodge

A little old-fashioned, a little flashy, and still turning heads after all these years.

Tee Pee Motel

A masterpiece need not hang in a museum. Sometimes it stands beside a highway, waiting for someone to recognize it.

Caboose Motel

The train may have left the station, but apparently, the caboose found a permanent place to stay.

Apache Motel

An arrow through the sky, a little Western charm, and all the modern luxuries. Apparently, even the Wild West has Wi-Fi.

Dude Motel

Dude! With a sign like that, who needs a five-star hotel? The cowboy had me at hello.

81 Motel

Eighty-one reasons to stop? I only needed one. Two little birds had already checked in.

Wapiti Lodge

Whoever said the night belongs to darkness clearly never met a little neon with something to prove.

Antler Motel

Some wear their crowns upon their heads. Others light them up for the whole world to see.

I did this same thing a few years back with Barns. I never reazlied how beautiful and different farm barns can be. I might just had to do a post about it…
