They hand you a hand-me-down map, forgetting it was drawn for an entirely different journey. They offer you a uniform for a life that requires a custom fit.
Neither belongs perfectly to the recipient.
Perhaps that is the inconvenience of advice.
It is rarely about the listener. More often, it is the speaker’s autobiography disguised as instruction.
The signs are nailed to the earth, while the heart searches for its own color.
