I hit 5,000 steps today.
Some were intentional…
Others belonged to life.
Three hungry dogs were convinced breakfast was an emergency. One even took off with the treat bag, adding a few unexpected steps to my morning.
I wandered to the chicken coop where the girls had left a few eggs. Rent was paid for another day.
The garden called my name, and on the way back, a monarch butterfly floated by. I couldn’t resist skipping after it, hoping for the perfect picture. The monarch won.
I leaned on the fence and caught up with my neighbor. Funny how a “hello” can turn into one of the best parts of the day.
My husband walked by, music was playing, and before either of us knew it, we shared a quick two-step in the middle of an ordinary afternoon.
I gathered the laundry because another week is waiting to begin. I checked the mailbox, filled my water bottle, made the usual trip to the bathroom, and searched for my phone… only to realize it was already in my hand.
None of those steps counted as exercise.
But every one of them counted as life.
Turns out, I wasn’t chasing 5,000 steps today. I was simply living a life worth walking through.
