Daily writing prompt
Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

Wow, this is such a cool way to reminisce. It’s funny how certain things from our past stick with us.

For a minute, I thought there was nothing. I wasn’t attached to dolls or toys, so I assumed this prompt didn’t apply to me.

But then it came back to me.
Jeans.
My heart went straight to denim.

They were stiff. High-waisted enough to qualify as upper-body wear.

Putting them on was a process.
First—jumping up and down.
Then—laying flat on the bed.
Then pulling the zipper as far as it would go and negotiating the rest.

It worked.
Eventually.

Every now and then, I wander into vintage shops hoping to rediscover that same magic. Instead, I realize the sizes feel different—like the chart quietly changed when no one was paying attention. Today’s jeans stretch instantly. They promise comfort right away.

Those jeans didn’t.
They had to be broken in.

And somehow, so did I.
